Tangled Bangles: The Guide To Layering Bracelets

A bracelet is a thing of beauty.  It can make an outfit perfect just by resting on your wrist.  A happy jumble of them on your wrist at once can be the best element of your ensemble, but just make sure you are doing it right!

Pick out the bracelets you want to use.  Choose a wrist to put them on, or maybe even split them between both wrists!  Usually, starting with simpler bracelets on the outside of the stack, then put the more ornate and detailed ones in the middle.  Here are some examples-

Printed and Patterned: A Guide to Wearing Prints

1.  Pick a print you love.  Whether it is a bird print (below) or a simple polka dot, anything works as long as you love it.

2.  Find a sophisticated cut.  A lot of the time, prints can make you look sloppy, wider, or childish.  To avoid this, look for a ladylike figure like an a-line dress.  Structure is always good too.

3.  Know when to wear it.  For example, a loud, neon zebra top may not be suitable for the office, but prints on the street or for a day out are very chic.  A print can spice up a boring outfit.  Just choose accordingly.

4.  Mixing Prints is serious business.  The trick to it is balance.  Whether it's a simple cut for one piece and a textured second piece, or a simple print like stripes or dots with a more complex print like floral, textile, or gingham, make sure to balance everything out.
Blair Eadie sure knows how to expertly mix prints.  Note the balance of simple stripes with textured floral.  (photo via atlantic-pacific.blogspot.com

5.   Getting match-matchy with prints and colors is fun in a modern way.  For example, a beaded golden clutch would go wonderfully with a pair of gold heels!

7. Confidence is key.  If you believe that you are rocking it, it will show on your face.  Wear those prints with confidence and you will get so many compliments.

Like, Totes! The Bags Every Lady Should Have

An Everyday Bag    (via J.Crew)
An everyday bag is going to be the bag you use the most.  It should be big enough to fit all your essentials that you need for daily life and be good quality.  This is a bag that you can definitely shell out some money on, because it will be with you for a long time.  Pick one in a neutral color (black, white, tan, navy, or grey) and make sure you love it before you buy it.
A Black Clutch     (via Yves Saint Laurent)
Black clutches are great for when you don't need to carry around a ton of stuff.  They are very elegant and the perfect one can pull together any outfit.  Make sure it has room for your essentials.  You will not be able to fit much, but you'll need to fit your phone, your credit card, maybe a little tube of lipstick, some cash, and any small item that you cannot leave the house without.
A Tan Crossbody    (via Tory Burch)
Tan is the best color for a crossbody bag because it works into any outfit and just seems so much more natural than any other color.  Pick out one in your preferred tan or nude shade and make sure it hits about hip length.  It should be big enough to fit in a cell phone, small wallet, a little makeup, and anything else you might need.
A Travel Tote    (via Longchamp)
Travel totes are great when they fold up.  The Longchamp bags fold into tiny compact packages that can be unrolled and used at any time.  A travel tote should be big enough to fit all your stuff, just like an everyday bag.  As the owner of 3 Longchamp totes, I highly recommend these bags.
A Fun Bag     (via Prada)
A fun bag should be in a cool color or print.  It should be able to spice up a boring outfit and give a pop of color.  Any shape or size is fine, just make sure you are totally committed to it before you buy it.  I cannot tell you how many bags I have bought only to never wear them.
A Fancy Clutch    (via La Regale)
A fancy clutch, whether it is covered in crystals or a smooth, shiny metal, is always a necessity in your closet.  It is perfect for special occasions and can amp up a boring cocktail dress or gown.  Gold and silver are my favorites, but don't be afraid to experiment with other colors and styles.

The It Girl

A modern guide to the fashion woman and what she has, what she wears, and who she is.

The It Girl isn't brainless.  The It Girl isn't cold.  The It Girl isn't rude, or vulgar, or uncivilized.
The It Girl is the woman you can idolize in every aspect.  She has style, class, education, warmth, beauty, passion, loyalty.  An It Girl is someone you can respect.  And the first real step to being the It Girl is to be a good person.  Stay classy.  Be kind.  Wear couture.  Things like that.
